Theoretical Background
Personal PR is a powerful yet simple concept that anyone can use to build their career, their blog, their network, and beyond. But, that doesn’t mean there’s not complex thought behind it! As a part of my master’s program in Journalism, my research has taken me into the world of social capital. I’m currently exploring a framework in which professionals can use the idea of social capital to develop and enhance their careers by applying elements of the field of public relations.
About Me
I work in corporate communications at one of the world’s largest staffing and human resource services companies. At my day job, I write and research on a wide range of topics - from management and small business ownership to human resources, career development and the world of work. I also do PR and media relations consulting, along with project management and development.
You may know me from my first plunge into blogging at Little Red Suit. You can read some of my classic posts from LRS here at Personal PR. When I launched my blog early in 2007, I struggled with my online professional identity and issues like transparency and authenticity. They don’t say internet years are like dog years for nothing. In the short time I’ve been blogging, I’ve learned so much about building relationships - especially online. That’s why I’m here to share with you now about the powerful concept of Personal PR.
